When people think of elevators, they don't usually think much. They think elevators just take them to the right floor of an office building, apartment building, or mall. All these are called passenger lifts. However, elevator companies can install many different types of elevators. The three little-known types are freight, family and personnel.
Freight elevators are used in industrial settings. The sole purpose is to move the vehicle and heavy equipment (such as forklifts, bulldozers, etc.) to the correct floor of the construction site. As they carry such large and heavy loads, they are reinforced with extra steel to help lift with 4 tons of load. They have a unique panel, one piece at a time. The aim is to save money and energy if the cab carries a small panel of damaged equipment. Only one will be replaced. In the passenger cab, a panel covers a wall, so if accident happens, the entire wall needs to be replaced.
The family elevator is a friendly equipment to the disabled, the wheelchair man, or the elderly. This type of elevator is smaller and more compact. So it can hold only a few people at a time. Household elevator usually has two different capacity: 700 or 900 pounds, it is not the intent of a rise of more than five flights (usually there is no problem, because most people do not have a five storey home).
Elevator companies can also install personnel elevators whose capacities can range from 300 to 1000 pounds depending on the facility's needs. These are installed in many work areas, and only a few people can access them. They are square or cylindrical. They resemble a small box or tube that allows people to bump up and down and bring elite people to their destinations. The most common places to find these are damns, pylons and power plants.
